Termite Control

If you are reading this then it’s likely you could be worried about termites attacking your most prized asset.

I have found live termites, what should I do?

If you have found live termites, we strongly recommend you take immediate action. CONTACT US NOW!

Do not disturb the termites and do not treat them with any chemicals. If you have already, just try and tape up any broken mud workings to keep light out and make them feel safe. This will assist in achieving colony elimination when it’s treated by a professional termite controller.

Do not panic! As worrying as it can be finding termites, they are not going to eat your entire house overnight. It does take considerable time for them to cause extensive damage. That said, do not leave it for weeks to act.

What timber pest inspections does RDS Pest Control perform?

RDS Pest Control offers comprehensive Timber Pest Inspections as per Australian Standards 4349.3-2010. This can be done separately or as a package with your General Urban Pest treatment.

How often does my house need a professional timber pest inspection?

Even if your property has termite protection, a professional timber pest inspection is recommended at least once a year by the Australian Standard 3660, as termites can sometimes bridge or breach the protection in place and be attacking your home or business.

Comprehensive timber pest inspections are the only way to know if your home has a termite infestation. If your home has termite activity history and your house is in a high-pressure termite area, it would be advisable to have regular inspections every 3-6 months, especially if there is no chemical treated zone around the home or any termite monitoring stations around the perimeter.

Locating timber pests early will help reduce the potential damage they can cause to your home.

Which timber pests do you look for?

Timber pests include termites, borers, & fungal decay and our inspection will include all these.

LATEST EQUIPMENT & TECHNIQUES

We use:

  • Sounding: a specialist technique to test the integrity of timber

  • Listening equipment: detects termite movement

  • Electronic Moisture Meter: detects elevated moisture in timber which can indicate the presence of termites &/or timber decay

  • Borescope: this camera allows us to inspect within a wall cavity to determine if there is a fault with a leaking pipe or a problem with termites. This tool is used often to show clients the exact nature of the problem – whether it be a live termite nest or a plumbing issue

  • T3i Termatrac device: this device has a sensor that detects movement through a wall, tiles or even brickwork.
